Lasagna Recipe

Here's a recipe for classic lasagna:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 container (15 ounces) ricotta cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package directions, then drain and rinse with cold water.

  3. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion and minced garlic over medium-high heat, breaking up the beef with a spoon as it cooks. Drain off any excess fat.

  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.

  5. In a separate bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, eggs, and 1/2 cup of the grated Parmesan cheese.

  6. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with a layer of cooked lasagna noodles, followed by a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture, and a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.

  7. Repeat the layers of sauce, noodles, ricotta cheese mixture, and mozzarella cheese until all of the ingredients are used up, ending with a layer of sauce and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese on top.

  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the lasagna is heated through.

  9. Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes, then sprinkle with chopped parsley (if desired) before serving.

Enjoy your delicious homemade lasagna!
